CULTIVATING NEW MODES OF CREATION

Through artistic research, I cultivate evolving research ecologies where matters, scientific inquiry, craftsmanship, and cultural knowledge continuously interact. Artworks are not final outcomes, but temporary crystallisations that generate new knowledge and future questions.

My research unfolds across three interconnected programs, each investigating creation from a different scale.

Rethinking how creation emerges

Position

We are living through a period in which the boundaries between disciplines, cultures, technologies, and ecological systems are rapidly dissolving. At the same time, our societies are becoming increasingly interconnected yet deeply fragmented.

Technological acceleration, ecological uncertainty, artificial intelligence, and cultural division are transforming not only how we live, but also how we understand knowledge, creativity, and our relationship with the world. Many of these questions can no longer be addressed from within a single discipline. They demand new ways of learning, making, and imagining the future.

Cultivation model

Cultivation is the central methodology of my research. Rather than producing predetermined outcomes, cultivation designs the conditions through which new forms, knowledge, and relationships can emerge. Human intention remains essential, but instead of controlling every result, it collaborates with material behaviour, environmental processes, and time itself.

I describe this methodology as Out of Control within Control—a process in which control and uncertainty coexist to cultivate possibilities that neither humans nor nature could generate independently. Creation therefore becomes neither human authorship nor natural spontaneity. It becomes a process of co-evolution.

Cultivating artworks

The future may depend less on finding definitive answers than on cultivating better conditions for new possibilities to emerge. Rather than predicting the future, my research cultivates experimental conditions where alternative futures can be imagined and tested.

Every artwork is a temporary crystallisation within an evolving research ecosystem. The research itself is never complete, because every ending becomes the condition for another beginning.
