Blend Art, Science, Craft and Design

Daishi Luo is an interdisciplinary artist and a ‘modern alchemist’ whose practice focuses on bio-art, the philosophy of traditional Chinese materials, and the intersection of a future symbiosis between humanity, nature, and technology. Using copper as her primary material and metaphor, her work explores the delicate balance between human control and nature’s spontaneity. She created a method named Out of Control within Control allowing copper to grow skin and skeleton under the combined influence of human intervention and environmental forces. Her oeuvre spans research projects, installations, sculpture, and video, engaging in a critical examination of ecological and technological challenges in the context of the Anthropocene.

She was invited to present at the Rijksmuseum(2025) and was awarded a residency at the Institut Français & Les Manufactures nationales & L'Académie des beaux-arts (2025). And including the National Art Fund of China for Young Talents (2017–2018), the Shenzhen Creative Public Welfare Fund (2019), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) (2022).
